Mrs. Melanie Johns

This is my fourth year as the Student Learning Assistant for grades 3–5 at Sunrise Elementary and my sixth year with the district. This school year, my primary focus will be supporting English Language Arts (ELA) instruction, particularly during the designated workshop time. During these sessions, students will engage in a range of activities with various support staff, including technology integration, educational games, genre exploration, novel studies, and phonics practice.

One of the most rewarding aspects of my role is the opportunity to work with many of the same students year after year, building strong connections and supporting their continued growth.

My goal is to help create a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment where all students can thrive and enjoy their school experience.

I am a proud Penn-Trafford alumna and hold a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, as well as a master’s degree in Inclusive Education from Seton Hill University.

Here’s to a fantastic school year ahead!
