Fourth-grade students at Sunrise Estates Elementary honored September 11 by learning about Welles Crowther, “The Man in the Red Bandana,” and the many heroes who showed extraordinary courage that day.
Students then reflected on the everyday heroes in their own lives, writing about the qualities they admire in them. Their messages were attached to red bandanas in honor of Crowther and taken home to share with their chosen heroes.
