At Sunrise Elementary School, third-grade students in Mrs. Stefanie Kravetz’s class recently explored multiplication in a creative and engaging way. Kravetz, a long-term substitute teacher, introduced her students to the concept of arrays through a hands-on superhero-themed lesson.
Using tiles to build arrays, the students solved superhero word problems and then transformed their arrays into “skyscraper windows,” constructing their own superhero cityscapes. The activity combined math with imagination, allowing students to strengthen their understanding of multiplication while having fun.
The finished superhero cities line the school hallway with colorful skyscrapers, showcasing both the students’ math skills and their creativity.
