Students Hold Parade of Robots

In an impressive display of creativity and technological prowess, the fourth-grade students at Sunrise Estates Elementary have taken learning beyond the textbooks. Integrating science, writing, and social studies, these young innovators recently completed a unique lesson that brought the Macy’s Day Parade into their classroom through the creation and coding of robots.

Under the guidance of teachers Mr. Pompilio, Mrs. Watt, Mrs. Hartman, and Mrs. Miller, the students tackled the project that not only enhanced their coding skills but also fostered collaboration and critical thinking. The objective of this endeavor was to design and code robots that mimicked the iconic Macy’s Day Parade. Each robot represented a character or float commonly seen in the annual parade. From whimsical balloons to famous characters, the creativity of these young minds knew no bounds.
