Schools Will Emphasize Coding

With the growing importance of computer science, the Penn-Trafford School District is committed to preparing its students for the challenges they will be facing in the 21st Century.

During the 2022-2023 school year, PT will formally implement Computer Science as a class for 1st and 2nd graders.  Coding will also be further integrated into the district’s middle school Computer Science and STEM classes.

All 1st grade, 2nd grade, and middle school teachers at Penn-Trafford attended a full-day training session in July which covered the code.org curriculum.  The increased emphasis on computer science skills will help to promote critical thinking and innovation that will cross over to all disciplines.
