Sensory Exploration Classroom Expands

Mrs. Alison Stephens, a teacher at Sunrise Estates Elementary School, provides support to students in grades kindergarten through five.  To enable her students to relax and reset during the school day, Stephens created a sensory exploration nook in her classroom.

“A space dedicated to sensory exploration and fulfillment helps meet my students' basic needs and provides them with the opportunity to be successful in their school environment,“  said Stephens.

Stephens recently expanded her sensory space with materials obtained through a DonorsChoose funding campaign.  She acquired a set of liquid floor tiles, sensory window games, and glitter wands.  The new items have already been a hit with the students.
