Sunrise Estates Elementary School teachers Jennifer Lubecki and Kelly Cleland recently received grant funds from DonorsChoose, a crowdfunding resource for teachers. They used the funds to build a Kindness Garden with their kindergarten classes in May. In preparation for the class project, the teachers readied a garden plot with mulch, a border fence and a sign painted by the school librarian, Mrs. Stanislaw. Students were then asked to create kindness rocks using acrylic markers and place them in the garden which lies outside the kindergarten entrance doors.
The decorated rocks are meant for taking by any individual who needs a "pick me up" and can be returned when he/she is feeling better.
